
Switzerland is the most mountainous country in Europe, and the alps are steeper than other mountains ( such as Rockies) which are prone to landslides and flooding. There are 48 mountains in Switzerland. Lake Geneva, and Lake Constance are near the Alpine in the south.
The small village of Blatten cannot sustained the amount of land slides in such a short time. Bietschhorn mountain, the collapse of Birch glacier has caused blockages, in particular, the flow of river Lonza. Scientists and geologists have already identified the issues for several years, but this collapse was the biggest one.
