Flamingo is one of the oldest bird, that live in the most extreme conditions such as salt lakes. Most of the salt lakes are located in desert regions, and subtropical/ steppe areas like North America,South America, Andes Mountains, African savanna. Ecosystems of lakes and coastlines are extremely important for birds migration. Infrastructure of salt lakes and coastlines to protect birds and improve hydrological cycle ( precipitation)is critical in the next 30 years. Scientists have predicted that in the next 30 years, many salt lakes will disappear, which means that species in desert and steppes may not survive.
Flamingo is one of the strongest species in the salt lakes, adapts well in salinity and alkaline environments. Human as the keystone, needs to be more flexible and diligent in protecting flamingo populations, and salt lakes around the world.
