Turkey in the New World, finds their way in the grassland region that covers most of the Great Plains ( The spirit states). The meadows and the unique tall grass in the Great Plains have helped achieve great ecological success. Turkey is one of the bird that have survived extreme weather in the Great Plains for the longest time. Turkey finds refuge in the spirit Sagebrush field, lives side by side, and stand extreme temperature.

Meat is an essential part in the grassland community, in particular, during The Great Depression, when chicken were not enough. Turkey high protein has been a good substitute. But turkey among several other birds goes on a solitary journey which makes them very vulnerable to predators.
