There are 20,000 species of bees on the planet, and some species are rare and unique which pollinate certain types of plants. Most of the rare species are found in desert regions and savanna. These bees creates a unique habitat. Desert receives little rain, 20% annually, and bees are very important in order to keep plants survive in the desert. There are places that are experiencing drought, and melting glaciers. Arctic desert, South Africa, South America, have rare bee species that are critically important for certain plants.

Declining/ shortage of bee populations in desert area has an effect on plants. A healthy crops needs bees to thrive.
