After a long dormant period in the northernmost hemisphere, forests reawaken to the spring season’s long daylight. Water flows and ebbs in the defrosting rivers, revitalizing rich plankton. The forest leaves appear greener, burgeoning in the spring light, photosynthesis at its highest potential. All species come out from hibernation, leaving the casotte, to the open wild.
The northernmost largest forest is home to polar bears, grey wolves, and Arctic hares. They take the greatest risk to travel along rivers. The current is stronger during spring and summer, the water flowing with higher pressure and speed. They depend on clean water and fish. The herbivores count on the greener leaves. Grizzly bear take a chance in the rich plankton river and forest to find fish in the river.

The past La Niña had been hard for bears, and other mammals to cross the snow storms. Abnormal temperatures disrupt the cycle..
