Years go by, rising temperatures from human activities has  sped up climate change in desert regions.  Defense mechanisms have weakened in all continent significantly.  Unique species are endangered and water scarcity is becoming a serious problem in large cities desert areas.  The Great Basin in California dreamin North America  has exhausted its capacity to provide water to several cities in the west coast.  Desert  and semi- arid land support Carbon 4 plants which are heat resistant, sustained in extreme hot temperatures, absorb carbon dioxide during the day.

Unique species in desert biome

Desert is a harsh environment and requires resiliency in order to survive in the scorching heat.  Human activities is one of the main culprit that has reduced amount of precipitation  in many deserts around the world.   But nature fights back in the desert, there some species that are untouchable, except certain species are able to thrive in hard times.

Milk bushes are very rare, and few animals can feed on this plant, the Antelope uses this staple during drought season.

The African savanna, is a vast land,  some places are very hostile, and only animals serve as Forest rangers : for example Giraffes in the Acacia forest help prune branches and protect human from tigers and lion hunters.

Bushman grass, grows in the Namibian desert and support the rhinos, gazelles, antelopes.

China the four biomes, The Silk Road, contains the largest alpine permafrost in the Central Asia.  Some of the mountain ranges and glaciers are melting away ( almost to the point of no return).  Yalun Am glacier is one of the mountain that has exceeded melting during the summer for the past decade.

Yak is one of the unique species that thrive in the coldest desert temperature in Central Asia, and relies on the ice and snow from the mountains.

North America, sage bush spirit, Yucca ( Joshua tree) in the Death Valley, the hottest point on Earth.  The Sonoran desert supports over 2000 cactus species, 350 birds species, 100 reptiles species.  The west coast deserts has the most diverse species, but melting ice in desert areas is menacing the entire ecosystem.

Penstemon Flower is a unique plant that survived the Dust Bowl in the 1930’s Midwest climate crisis.

Desert land support the economy worldwide,  there are rich minerals such as Copper, diamond, coal, Silver, titanium, uranium.
