1980’s – 1990’s are the best years, one year to relive would be 1985, when life was open and free. Memories/ souvenir, of songs that were en vogue, playing everywhere, every block in the village and downtown.

Avocado trees and Papayas season all year round in tropical island, for my quick snack, when my mom did not prepare lunch, and on time out.

Favorite radio station, jazzz, classical music ( Swan Lake and Fur Elise, played almost everyday. The morning Bollywood music, of evergreen landscape. Reminder for all fancy fair events during hot summer season. Every neighborhood, village is playing the most iconic, popular songs. Down the street, neighbors gathered to play cards, have a drink at the bar. Some of the drunk men whistling their favorite songs. Madonna, Michael Jackson, George Michael posters everywhere. Some people passing by blowing a kiss to their picture, or wearing their favorite artist on Tshirts. It’s like “girls want to have fun”

infrastructure in the 1980’s on a remote island is different in the Tropic of Capricorn. Trees that increase the value of papayas and mango in the city center, is known to be very wholesome. Banyan trees represent the tropical landscape. Merchants parked in corners of every block in busy town selling mangoes and pineapple. Almost every bus stop has a tree nearby to shelter on rainy and hot sunny days. It’s a banyan trees or a rotan palm tree, Vacoas trees. Bus driver plays their favorite sega folklore.

in the 1980’s, school vacation, I would throw my backpack and ran off to the beach, eat vanilla ice cream.
