
Parallelism/ Earth Revolution
Solar energy, light rays toward the earth surface is parallel, and earth is tilted. Light rays, wavelengths is longer toward the northernmost, tundra region. Solar power is only available during summer months. On the other hand, light rays towards the equator is shorter, more abundant ( tropical, desert region). The Sahara Desert can generate light/ energy for the whole earth just from natural sun. It is extremely important to maintain hydrological cycle, because everything revolves around the sun. Desert region is extremely important ( equator, Arctic , Antarctica), because these regions receive only 10% rainfall per year.
Atmosphere and solar energy Earth land/water surface can absorb shortwave sun energy more than the atmosphere. The atmosphere receives heat more directly from the earth surface, that’s why earth land/ water temperature has to remain constant and balance. When the earth heats up, the atmosphere can’t transfer/ convert extra heat, it’s trapped inside. The atmosphere allows greenhouse gases to enter ( the earth)but not escape.

The light rays wavelength toward Arctic and Antarctica are longer, and the temperature is about the same ( varies very little), the only difference, Arctic is a desert of sea ice, and Antarctica is desert consist of more land mass. Snow melts faster on land than in water. Mountains glaciers are very important in desert regions, in particular tropic of Cancer.
