How important is to maintain Tropical grassland in the Rift Valley savanna/Continent for wildlife conservation ?

Earth revolution, the sun shine more toward the equator ( shorter wavelengths ). Tropical region in the Equatorial latitude is hotter. The grass keeps the soil moist, thus help the herbivore population tremendously. Moreover, tropical grassland help hydrological cycle, and reduce drought season.
